It is tailored in beautiful 100% solution dyed Navy acetate. The front panels and chevrons are in rich California Blue velvet with gold metallic braid on the outside edges. The outer shell of the hood is in black acetate and the inner satin lining in official UC colors - gold lining with a blue chevron. Degree color is shown in the rich velvet trim. An eight sided soft tam made in the California Blue velvet is topped with a gold metallic bullion tassel. A standard mortarboard cap in navy acetate to match the gown with a gold meatallic bullion tassel is also available as an alternative to the tam.
